In a 45 minute, hands-on workshop, discover the life and career of Mary Ann Shadd Cary, the first Black woman to publish a newspaper in North America. Mary Ann's anti-slavery newspaper, The Provincial Freeman, played an important role in the abolitionist movement. Experience 19th century technology by printing an 1854 edition of The Provincial Freeman, on the historic printing press.
